Useful Telephone Numbers
In order for you to reclaim your property, you will have to file a claim form with the state that is holding it and successfully complete the verification process demonstrating that you are the rightful owner of the property. Claims may not be filed at this web site, but must be submitted directly with the state that holds the property.

Depending on the state, claims can be initiated in one of four forms: by mail, by telephone inquiry, using an online form on the state's web site, and by email. Once submitted, the claim is evaluated in the Claims Processing System. Below are the major steps a state typically (but not necessarily) follows in processing a claim:
  1. A Claims Package is printed and mailed to the claimant.

  2. The claimant returns the completed claims package which is evaluated in the Claims Processing System.

  3. The documents are reviewed for adequate information and are either approved, denied, or held pending more documentation.

    1. If approved, the claim gets forwarded to the distribution office for payment and a check is mailed to the claimant.

    2. If "held pending", a letter is sent to the claimant with a request for more documentation.

    3. If denied, a letter is sent to the claimant.
